Work completes on 15 new homes in Billericay

22 Oct Work completes on 15 new homes in Billericay

Work has completed on 15 semi-detached and terraced houses in Roman Way, Billericay.

The homes are a combination of two, three and four-bedroom houses. In total, three of the homes will be available for affordable rent with six available for shared ownership and six for market sale.

Sempra Homes, the council’s house building company, began work to build the new homes last summer. Leader of Basildon Council Councillor Gavin Callaghan attended the site to view the properties on Tuesday 22 October, alongside representatives of Indecon the build contractor, Sempra, Basildon Council and The Billericay School to mark the completion of works.

Cllr Callaghan said: “We are serious about delivering quality new homes for our residents and this development sets the bar very high. These houses are beautiful and will make excellent family homes.

“I am particularly proud of the way this scheme has enabled us to work closely with The Billericay School, which has supported the project and sent construction students over for site visits. One of those students went on to gain an apprenticeship with our contractor Indecon Building Ltd, which is a local company with a workforce predominantly made up of borough residents.”

“Sempra Homes represents much more than just housebuilding. It is building communities and creating opportunities for our young people too.”

Melanie Keys, Manager of Sempra Homes, added: “We are really proud to bring these new developments to the market which is a testament to the hard work of the team. Our shared ownership homes will provide opportunities to purchase a share in a home where outright purchase is not affordable.

“Through our programme we are working alongside the Government’s Help to Buy scheme to provide affordable homes in the borough and with Basildon Council to deliver apprentice placements and opportunities for local labour and supply chains.”

Sempra Homes, which was set up by Basildon Council as an independent company, is committed to delivering properties across the borough and will provide a variety of different tenures including affordable rent, shared ownership, market rent and market sale.
