Despite The Woodford in South Woodford being named restaurant of the year at the Evening Standard Restaurant Awards there is a new contender in town, the brainchild of restaurateur Rajesh Suri and head chef Dayashankar Sharma who were part of the team that drove London’s first Michelin Starred Indian restaurant.

Woodford’s newest hotspot Grand Trunk Road boasts of ample parking on a side street which I made use of, the attention to detail inside the restaurant including the use of traditional wood and pricey Indian artefacts makes it a stand out building in the friendly neighbourhood.

The scrumptious selection: From the GRILLED SCALLOPS to the BAHAAR KA SALAD there is a wide variety of nibbles to get you appetised for your main meal which promises not to disappoint with the grill offering LUCKNOW KA MALAI TIKKA, PESHAWAR KI LAMB CHOPS amongst a selection of exquisite dishes offered which come complete with salad & chutney. Excellent for weight watchers or vegetarians is the THREE GREENS which I found irresistible boasting of Broccoli, fine beans and baby spinach with cumin and crushed pepper.

How Much: Starters range from £5.95 to £11.50, with the main course menu ranging from £12.95 to £34, If you need a dessert to fill up you cant go wrong with the opulent selection priced from £4.95 .

The Verdict: For me its 4/5

A lovely convivial atmosphere, attentive and welcoming staff not to mention some of the most creative Indian dishes I have ever tasted.
