The Essex & Southend Sports Trust support #Southend FC initiative

01 Dec The Essex & Southend Sports Trust support #Southend FC initiative

The Essex & Southend Sports Trust have made a valuable donation to the Southend United Community and Educational Trust of £30,000 to support Premier League Kicks, a free programme for 8-19 years olds to help improve their football skills, in cooperation with the Premier League who also match the donation.

The total cost to deliver the program is £120,000. The EASST have continued to support the Community & Education Trust for 14 years and have made a total donation of £270,000 that has gone to provide key support to sessions up and down South Essex, with Southend United Community coaches being recognisable face throughout the community.

The cheque was presented by Peter Butler (EASST Chairman), accompanied by Jo Sims (EASST Trustee) to Geoffrey King (Southend CET Chairman) and Dale Spiby (Southend United CET Chief Executive) on the pitch at Roots Hall Stadium before Blues’ game against Swindon Town on Tuesday night.

Joe Skeels Social Inclusion Officer said:“EASST provide funding to support over 700 young people on Premier League Kicks enabling us to deliver over 40 weeks of Football sessions across South Essex at seven different venues throughout the week. The funding helps to build safer, stronger, more respectful communities through the development of young people’s potential offering various pathways including scholarships, qualifications and employment. We thank EASST for this kind donation and look forward to their continued support.”

Premier League kick is a great opportunity for 8-19-year-olds to get into football or just improve their skills. The sessions run throughout the week.
