SECRETARY OF STATE VISITS GRAYS TO WITNESS THE AMBITION FOR REGENERATION

14 Oct SECRETARY OF STATE VISITS GRAYS TO WITNESS THE AMBITION FOR REGENERATION

Robert Jenrick, Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government visited Grays on Thursday to meet with Council Leader Cllr Robert Gledhill to hear about the ambitions for regeneration of Grays town centre and the plans for Tilbury.

The visit came on the back of the Government’s announcement of Town deals for Tilbury and Grays. Together with the Future High Street fund for Grays and growth funding for Grays South, these announcements could see upwards of £80m coming into our borough.

Jackie said, “We Conservatives have had great ambition for Grays and Tilbury to make them the best they can be. This additional funding from Government means we can do so much more. I was very pleased to show the Secretary of State our plans and just what that additional investment can help us to achieve.
We were able to show our ambitions to open up the access to the Thames. We were able to show our ambitions to create more homes in central Grays. We were able to show our ambitions to make Grays and Tilbury better places to live, work and play.

The public investment from Government and the local council will catalyse the private investment to deliver genuine transformation to the town centre in Grays.
I am delighted that this Conservative Government has shown its belief in Thurrock by making so much more public money available to us to deliver. Let’s do this.”
