21 Mar Reach new heights in Essex for Parkinson’s UK
Parkinson’s UK is encouraging Essex residents to push their courage to new limits and take on a Wing Walk on Saturday 12 May at Damyns Hall Aerodrome in Upminster.
Wing Walkers will be securely strapped to the top wing of an authentic vintage Boeing Stearman biplane, with their very own highly experienced pilot, as they fly 1,200 feet in the air.
21-year old Chloe McWalter took part in the Wing Walk at Upminster last year, and is now encouraging people to get involved in this year’s event.
She said: “I decided to take part as I know people who live with Parkinson’s, and it really brought home that people of all ages can be diagnosed with the condition.
“I was nervous before the Wing Walk, but once I was up there I loved every second of it! It was truly exhilarating and the views across London were brilliant.
“A lot of my friends thought I was crazy but that certainly helped with my fundraising! I managed to raise nearly £3,000 for Parkinson’s UK.”
All the money raised from the event will help Parkinson’s UK to find better treatments and ultimately a cure for the 145,000 people across the UK living with Parkinson’s.
Registration costs £100 and there is a minimum sponsorship of £800. All Wing Walkers will receive a Parkinson’s UK t-shirt, a fundraising pack and fundraising support.
