Pick up free crime prevention materials in Basildon next week

14 Feb Pick up free crime prevention materials in Basildon next week

On Monday night, Basildon Council will be holding its next ‘Together for Safer Communities’ public meeting in an effort to provide community reassurance and promote crime prevention advice and materials in the Fryerns area.

The meeting is being held at St Andrews Church, The Fremnells in Basildon on Monday 17 February between 7pm and 9pm.

Local residents are encouraged to pop in to discuss their community safety issues and concerns. There will also be lots of free crime prevention materials like property and bike marking kits, vehicle crime packs, number plate screws, personal alarms, credit card defenders, purse dipping bells and ‘No Cold Calling’ stickers.

Basildon Borough Neighbourhood Watch will also be there to take questions from anyone who is interested in joining a scheme in their area.

Councillor Kerry Smith, Chairman of the Housing and Communities Committee, said: “Back in 2017, when I held the first Together for Safer Communities meeting in Nethermayne – it was packed and it was standing room only, and I hope to replicate that at meetings across the borough.

“Any of us that are members of local Facebook groups know that community safety and crime concerns are daily online conversations and I hope that residents take the opportunity to continue these discussions offline and pick up lots of free crime prevention materials”.
