New EACH shop coming to Colchester!

05 Mar New EACH shop coming to Colchester!

East Anglia’s Children’s Hospices (EACH) is excited to announce another addition to its retail portfolio in Essex.

EACH has acquired a former Thomas Cook shop in Colchester’s High Street. The charity outlet will trade from Monday to Saturday, offering a similar range of high-quality goods to EACH’s four other Essex shops in Clacton-On-Sea, Dovercourt, Halstead and Stanway. It will open at 10am on Thursday, 19 March. EACH’s new mascot, ECHO the Elephant, will help cut the ribbon.

Sarah Throssell, EACH Acting Head of Retail, said: “We’re delighted plans are now well under way to bring our retail offering back to Colchester. Previously we had a tiny shop in the town that we reluctantly took the decision to close at the end of the lease, having struggled in such small premises. We’re updating the front of our new shop with our shades of heritage grey and an eye-catching window design, and internally we’ll add smart, dark wood floors and urban, raw metal fittings. We’ve plenty of space, with first and second floor workrooms destined to be the hub of our new online clothes shop, more about which will be released in the coming months. For now, the High Street signs are up and we hope to see many old and new supporters from the community coming through the doors on 19 March. It’s sure to be a fun occasion as our brand new mascot, ECHO the Elephant, makes a debut public appearance!”

EACH’s retail portfolio is growing at a fast pace, with seven shops having opened last year. This latest one in Colchester will be its first of 2020 and 43rd overall.

The charity welcomes donations of the following clean and good-quality goods: clothing, bric-a-brac, modern paperbacks, toys, jewellery, DVDs/CDs, household linens, retro and vintage clothes, and small electrical items. These can be dropped off at the new shop from Monday (9 March).

EACH also needs donations of good-quality furniture and can collect it free of charge if you are unable to transport it yourself. Call 01842 821620 for more information.
