A 15th century Civic House & Mayor’s Parlour will be open for the public as The Worshipful The Mayor of Southend Cllr Derek Jarvis will be hosting an open day for his chosen charity Southend in Sight.

The open day, at Porters Civic House and Mayor’s Parlour, Southchurch Road, SS1 2LT, will be held on Saturday 15 September from 10am – 4pm, and will enable residents the opportunity to take a rare tour round one of Southend’s hidden gems, free of charge.

Donations will be accepted on the day for the Mayor’s charity, Southend in Sight, which is a local charity that supports local people who suffer from sight loss. Support ranges from social events and activities, to assistance with independent living and breaking down barriers for those living with sight loss.

Entry to the event is completely free, with donations accepted on the day, and coffee, tea and cakes will be available in the garden for a small charge. The open day is in support of National Heritage weekend.
