Alice Mills from Romford has been awarded Adult Apprentice runner up by leading training provider, Qube Learning. Alice undertook a Health & Social Care Level 3 programme St Michaels Home Ltd – Howard Lodge, and her achievements were celebrated at the Qube Learning Awards ceremony, at the stunning location of Proud Embankment in central London on the 16th May.

The inspiring occasion was hosted by the famous Silver Medallist and World Record Holder, Colin Jackson CBE, who said “It was such an honour to give Alice her award. She has worked fantastically hard and really deserves this label. With so many incredible stories, I really do champion Apprenticeship and Traineeships and hope it motivates people to consider this rewarding education route. They can help create opportunities that can carve out positive paths for people that never thought that possible. Dreams really can become reality with the right guidance and mentoring, and Qube certainly provides that.”

Previously, Alice had worked in retail as a Personal Shopper but knew her professional destiny lay somewhere else. Shortly after making the decision to leave retail, Alice got a role within health and social care as Domiciliary Carer and then moved into Residential Care which her allowed learn whilst working. After a year working at St Michaels Home, Alice soon began a Healthcare Support Worker Level 2 Apprenticeship and was promoted to a Senior Care Worker during this time.

Alice has achieved a lot from completing the Level 2 qualification and now the Level 3 Health & Social Care Apprenticeship. She believes there is so much more to learn and hopes her continued training will help her progress further within St Michaels Home Ltd.

Alice says “Receiving the Adult Apprentice runner up award is truly one of my greatest achievements. I left school without the ‘traditional’ qualifications, but I was determined to not be defeated by this. Qube Learning has helped me grow, expand my knowledge and I feel like I can do anything! The programme has been life changing, my advice to anyone considering this route is don’t be afraid, whatever age you are it’s a great time to start learning. Qube Learning and St Michaels Home Ltd motivated me to succeed and saw my capabilities when no one else did, and I can now look forward to a very bright future”.

Alice’s continuously expanding expertise has allowed her to feel competent and ready to combat any tasks that come her way. She has enjoyed the opportunity to be able to learn later in life and show that an Apprenticeship is a feasible route for anyone.

Joe Crossley, CEO of Qube Learning said: “Apprenticeships are a great way for people to learn and earn experience in a professional set-up. Each day we come across so many exceptional individuals like Alice who have shown great determination to get where they are today, and that is why we hold this event every year to celebrate their credible passion.”
