19 Dec Harlow MP praises ‘wonderful’ and ‘passionate’ Haven House staff

Harlow MP Robert Halfon praised staff at Haven House Children’s Hospice for their passion and dedication during a visit to the hospice in Woodford Green on Friday 16 December.

Mr Halfon, who is also the Minister of State for Skills, received a tour of the hospice and its Holistic Care Centre and met with Chief Executive Mike Palfreman and Director of Care Eileen White.

The MP was informed about Haven House’s five-year strategy, Vision 2020, to increase the number of children it supports in North and North East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire to five hundred per year by 2020.

He also praised Haven House for receiving an overall rating of “Good” in its recent inspection by the Care Quality Commission with staff said to be committed to delivering high quality care.

Robert Halfon, Member of Parliament for Harlow, said: “It was wonderful to visit Haven House Children’s Hospice, which looks after so many children in the local area and Harlow.
“All the staff are passionate and dedicated and do this out of love and care for the children.
“I thank everyone there, the staff, the patients and all the volunteers for everything they do to make this such a special place.”

Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of Haven House, said: “It was a pleasure to show Robert Halfon around our hospice and Holistic Care Centre.
“Harlow and West Essex are key areas where we are looking to increase our profile and support more life-limited children as part our Vision 2020 strategy.

“We are very grateful to Robert for his kind words of support and advice. We hope to see him again at Haven House in the future.”
