12 Dec Harlow Ambassadors meet at Harlow Civic Centre
Around 60 Ambassadors met at Harlow Civic Centre on 5 December for the sixth Harlow Ambassador meeting.
The Harlow Ambassador programme brings together business, residents, investors and others to help forge a positive future for Harlow under the banner of Discover Harlow. Harlow Ambassadors champion the town as a great place to live, work and visit.
Ambassadors meet regularly in some of the area’s finest venues and buildings to network and to hear at first hand exciting news about Harlow which they can share with their contacts.
At their December meeting Ambassadors heard from:
• Dr John Keddie, Chair of the Harlow Place Board. John spoke about the exciting announcements made about Harlow over recent months, including the new hospital, the Town Centre Development Fund and the Future High Streets fund.
• Jemma Mindham, Chief Executive Officer of Rainbow Services, who spoke about the award-winning work the charity does not just within Harlow but across West Essex, with a focus on their Community Builder initiative.
• Sandra Wright and Dr William Lawton General Manager and Academic Director of the Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN). After a brief history of the University in Harlow and a summary of their 50 year celebrations, the pair went on to describe how MUN wishes to get more involved with the local community and organisations within the town.
Closing the meeting, John Keddie said: ‘Thank you to our inspiring speakers who summed up what makes Harlow stand out from the crowd
‘Harlow Ambassadors is now an established group. At each meeting we are forging new links that will enhance our community and showcase Harlow as a great place to live, work and visit. We have a great story to tell, and our network of Ambassadors will spread the news and champion the vibrant work that’s happening within the town and its communities.’
The Ambassadors Programme is an opportunity for organisations and businesses of all sizes to get involved in the promotion of Harlow.
The next Ambassador meeting is on 5 March 8 – 9:30am at the new Anglia Ruskin University Business Innovation Centre, Maypole Boulevard, Harlow Science Park
