05 Mar Grand Trunk Road Head Chef to be Presented Best Chef Award at Parliament Ceremony

With South Woodford’s Grand Trunk Road winning Best Restaurant, along with their Head Chef Dayashankar Sharma bagging Best Chef at The Asian Food and Restaurant Awards 2019, they have now kicked off 2020 with their incomparable Head Chef also winning Best Chef at the Asian & Oriental Chef Awards 2020.

The official awards ceremony takes place on March 12th at Westminster’s Houses of Parliament, where Chef Sharma will be presented the top accolade by the legendary chef, Satish Arora, who’s distinguished career includes preparing food for the likes of Margaret Thatcher, Queen Elizabeth II and Bill Clinton.

In a cook-off competition between twenty of the industry’s top names, Chef Sharma dazzled judges with his premium creations. His winning dishes were the Kale & Sago Kebab with Spicy Mint Chutney, prepared with ginger and green chillies and the Kasundi Scallop & Prawn with Baby Bell Peppers, flavoured with samphire and turmeric.

From beginning the year with a host of new vegan dishes, Chef Sharma has continued to elevate perceptions of Indian fine dining with a menu of recipes collected from his epic journey along India’s ancient Grand Trunk Road trail, with an ever-evolving offering and collecting a slew of awards since the restaurant’s launch in 2016.

Chef Sharma says ‘I’m completely thrilled to win this award, even more so for it to be presented by Chef Arora; his work has been a huge inspiration. We have some exciting, and very delicious, news coming soon… that’s all I can say for now!’
