Wow what a exciting Deadline Day yesterday… I was at work for Soccer AM working on Saturday’s live show and everyone were glued to Sky Sports News waiting with baited breath to hear who had signed and to hear the latest transfer rumours!

It’s become a #NationalDeadlineDay on social media with DeadlineDay trending at No1 on Twitter from 8am until 8pm then The cult TV show Great British Bore Off (sorry bake off) took over trending for the night until bang Midnight and the transfer deadline closed the hashtag #DeadlineDay was back at No1.

According to Twitter over 1 million tweets using the hashtag #DeadlineDay yesterday were tweeted it’s become a date in every football fans calendar!

The SoccerAM crew watching the Deadline Day show!

The transfer of the day has to go to AFC Bournemouth landing Jack Wilshere on loan from Arsenal, no one saw that coming, I mean this is a player Arsenal apparently turned down £40 plus million for last year for from clubs.

It wasn’t long ago he was touted as future England captain and world class ( not my words )

Now he has joined a club more likely to be challenging for relegation than Europe.

For me Jack is in the last chance saloon already at such a early stage of his career…

Other eye catching transfers on Deadline Day was Stoke City signing Wilfred Bony from Man City! That’s a great move for Stoke and Bony he will score goals for fun given a proper chance!

Then the Joe Hart move another shock and surprise that he moved to a club who are not in the European Elite bracket, moving on loan to Torino was so random apparently he only had the option of them or Sunderland which is unbelievable for England’s No1. Personally I think he has been made a scapegoat by Man City!

Next we have David Luiz that was a bonkers transfer yesterday going back to Chelsea who he left some 18 months ago for PSG that says to me he fell out with Mourinho! To pay such a large fee to get Luiz back at Stamford Bridge says to me Chelsea panicked in the transfer market! He always seems to have a horrible mistake in his armour.

Yesterday also saw a lot of loans happening in the Championship, League1 and League 2 as the football league have changed the rules regarding loans it has to be for a whole season or 6 months Minimum, clubs like Peterborough United, Bolton Wanderers, Sheffield United were very active in the loan market.

Final analysis though from yesterday’s #DeadlineDay was that the key transfer moves were done back in July and beginning of August big transfers like Pogba, Leroy Sane, Musa, Zlatan etc were done and dusted early doors!

It was overall a bit disappointing that no marquee players like Messi or Bale signed for a Premier League club at the last minute!

The hype and excitement on Sky Sports News makes the whole Deadline Day for me and I’m sure all football fans will say the same!

Remember though Football is the Winner…
