Essex Volunteer Police Cadets have been getting into the Christmas spirit

11 Dec Essex Volunteer Police Cadets have been getting into the Christmas spirit

Essex Volunteer Police Cadets have been getting into the Christmas spirit for a great cause over the weekend.

Around 10 cadets from the Thurrock Unit helped out at the Give a Gift shop at intu Lakeside.

The Give a Gift shop, run by Thurrock Council, is a simple idea where people are asked to donate a present to disadvantaged children for Christmas.

The cadets were joined by our Active Citizens and officers from the Thurrock Community Policing Team who helped assist shopper and collect presents.

Sgt Lee Stannard said: “In spite of the bad weather, it’s been a really busy day at intu Lakeside today and we’ve received lots of fantastic donations that will hopefully put a smile on the faces of local children this Christmas.

“Our cadets, leaders and Active Citizens have shown fantastic dedication by braving the snow to be here and I’d like to thank them for their valuable contribution to this brilliant local initiative.”
