Essex Songstress Rocking the 60’s Vibe For Valentine’s Day

29 Jan Essex Songstress Rocking the 60’s Vibe For Valentine’s Day

Not only does Lauren Taylor-Baker sing like an angel, but she’s rocking the whole 60’s vibe with her bouffant up-do and fake eye lashes. Lauren feels she was born at the wrong time as she loves the Ready Steady Go era with its music and clothing style.

Lauren grew up playing her parents’ vinyl collections which included the iconic vocalists of the 60’s and 70’s like Cilla Black, Petula Clarke and Dusty Springfield. They rapidly became her icons in every respect especially the gutsy Glaswegian singer Lulu whose unique vocals and hit songs ‘Shout’ and ‘To Sir With Love’ were personal favourites.

It is not surprising that Lauren had the surprise of her life when Lulu spotted the gifted artiste on social media and wasted no time in messaging her.

After seeing one of Lauren’s videos, Lulu enthused about 27 year old Lauren’s talent messaging her saying: “Beautiful, singing, beautiful voice.”

And since then then songstress from Chelmsford, who later went on to meet Lulu, has had the extra confidence to take her career to the next level.

Lauren, who also teaches singing at Pixie Lott’s Italia Conti Associate School in Chelmsford, posts her cover versions of classics, including ‘Ain’t No Sunshine’ and ‘Lovin’ You’ on You Tube. After having her confidence uplifted Lauren is now currently writing her own music and has released a song on iTunes of the cover ‘Wayfaring Stranger.’

She is also solidly booked for private events and can be seen performing at venues across the county including at Channels Bar & Brasserie – the popular restaurant and live music venue in Chelmsford where her talent was also recognised by co-owner Katie Squire when she overheard Lauren singing behind the bar.

Lauren explains: “I was working at Channels when Katie overheard me singing. She immediately invited me to perform there and now I am a regular on her entertainment roster! I am really honoured because she books some top acts.

“When performing at Channels last year, I was approached by a couple having dinner who invited me to sing at their wedding and now I regularly perform at weddings and private events. I am so grateful that Channels gave me an opportunity showcase my talent and take my career to the next level.”

“I will headline there on Valentine’s Day when I plan to sing classic love songs including ‘To Sir With Love’ – a massive hit for my idol Lulu in 1967.”

“It’s my ambition to perform at London’s music hot spots like Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club and Pizza Express in Holborn with a live band one day.
