Essex County Fire and Rescue’s Fire Cadets have been crowned champions at the inaugural National Fire Cadets Games.

19 Fire and Rescue Services were represented by teams of cadets at the event in London, which took place over on 18 and 19 August and saw cadets tasked with completing a course of tasks as quickly as possible.

After six runs, Essex Fire Cadets took on County Durham and Darlington in the final, having proven themselves to be the two fastest teams.

Essex were named the eventual winners after a fantastic final, while North Wales Fire Service were also presented with the Outstanding Team Spirit award.

Chief Fire Officer and Chief Executive Jo Turton, Head of Community Safety Lee Lucas and Head of Community Development and Safeguarding Donna Finch MBE were all in attendance at the event to cheer the teams of cadets on.
