A dedicated public servant has been honoured in the New Year’s Honours list.

Department for Work and Pensions employee Simon McKinnon has been honoured with a CBE (Commander of the Order of the British Empire) for public service.

Simon joined the department in 2008 and currently works as Digital Director for Children, Health and Pension Services, as well as Interim Chief Digital Information Officer.

The news comes as 13 staff across DWP have been named in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours list 2019. They have been honoured for going above and beyond in their day to day duties, making a real difference to the lives of countless individuals.

Simon said: “I am really delighted to be recognised in this way. I have been privileged to have worked on a range of digital projects over the years with some great colleagues, both in digital and across the wider DWP.

“I see this honour as a reflection of the amazing things DWP and digital have achieved.”
