Colchester Bake For Heroes sale hopes to help exceed £1m barrier

28 Apr Colchester Bake For Heroes sale hopes to help exceed £1m barrier

Having raised £850,000 since Bake for Heroes was launched in 2009 we hope to break the £1 million barrier this year with another event.

A sale event in Colchester is hoping to help exceed the barrier to raise money for Help for Heroes. The event will be held tomorrow in Colchester Town Centre opposite Boots between 9am and 4.30pm

Retired Sue Morgan,69 who is organising has been supporting Help The Heroes since months after they launched and feels motivated because her father was in the army for 27years.

She told us “These brave young men and women put their life on the line, we owe them a debt of gratitude and we don’t have to pay a lot to do so

Earlier this year we reported on how TV star Lorraine Kelly is calling on Britain to get out the aprons, wooden spoons and mixing bowls to help the annual Bake for Heroes campaign smash the million-pound mark.

Local organiser Sue expects over 1,000 cakes to be arriving for sale which is now to feed thousands, she added “If it weren’t for the generosity of the local people we wouldn’t be able to do this, over 20 companies have supported us in one way or another”
