Ambitious Billericay FC have achieved the unexpected when they confirmed the signing of former England star Paul Konchesky. The 35-year-old defender, who was capped twice by his country twice now hopes to bring a new breath of life to the local side.

The Ryman League Premier Division invited fans to their ground these evening where they met the new signing Konchesky who told us “I am very excited to be joining the side” adding on he said “I’m inspired by the owner’s ambition and I want to help make the dream a reality’.

Konchesky’s clubs also included West Ham, Fulham and Liverpool among others, before he left Leicester City for League One Gillingham last summer.

In a twisting turn of events Billericay FC manager Craig Edwards was said to have gone his separate ways with the club, owner and now care-taker manager Glenn Tamplin addressed fans telling them “I have been unhappy with some of the decisions recently”.

Tamplin has now further added that he wishes to take the club in a whol different direction as he said “We want to show people that signing Paul wasn’t just a publicity stunt”.

Also spotted in appearance was BGT star Paul Manners who is a co-Patron Stacey’s Smiles a Kent based charity.

New signing Konchesky also took time to play with 6year old Harry Parker whose story warmed hearts across the UK after news of his cerebral palsy and the subsequent £75,000 operation required to help him walk again.

Billericay FC owner Tamplin is reported to have donated £35,000 towards the campaign.
