Basildon Council has approved the creation of a third neighbourhood area in the borough

07 Sep Basildon Council has approved the creation of a third neighbourhood area in the borough

Basildon Council has approved the creation of a third neighbourhood area in the borough, which gives communities greater power to shape development by having a direct role in the development of planning policies at a local level.

On Wednesday 29 August, the Strategic Planning and Infrastructure Committee approved an application to designate the parished area of Ramsden Bellhouse as the Ramsden Bellhouse Neighbourhood Area following a four-week consultation.

Ramsden Bellhouse will now be able to prepare a Neighbourhood Development Plan which can set out general planning policies for the development and use of land. Once made, it will be used to determine planning applications in the neighbourhood area. Ramsden Bellhouse Parish Council can also prepare Neighbourhood Development Orders which would grant automatic planning permission for specific types of development they want to see in their area, without the need for a traditional planning application.

A publication statement showing all the representations received during the consultation, the council’s decision notice and the application will be available to view at www.basildon.gov.uk/neighbourhoodplanning
